Work with York Limited are working with our Local Authority client to find a qualified and experienced Head of Service, to work in their Learning Disabilities, Autism and preparation for Adulthood Team.
This is a full time (37 hours per week), temporary 6-month assignment based in York. The role includes 3 days in the office and 2 at home and hybrid working is available.
A competitive rate of pay is available, including weekly pay, holiday pay and pension with online timesheets.
The role;
Under the direction of the Assistant Director, this role is accountable for the management, operation and performance of the services for which the post holder is responsible.
This role provides strategic leadership within a portfolio of work, including;
specialist areas
strategic partnerships and multi-disciplinary teams
contributing to the strategic direction of the service
ensuring that Adult Social Care in York is compliant with statutory requirements.
The role includes;
Ensuring effective delivery of adult social care services across York, in line with the Adult Social Care Vision, delivering high quality and value for money adult social care in York. This includes the implementation of our strengths, place and relationship focused approach to working with people who require support.
Understanding the context in which we deliver care, treatment and support, and embodies the culture and values of the workforce and organisation.
Having the skills, knowledge, experience and credibility to lead effectively and do so with integrity, openness and honesty.
Driving and improving practice in this area, building integrated approaches with colleagues within York Council and other partners to connect people to communities, develop independence, prevent, reduce and delay care needs and, where required, provide a service that improves outcomes.
Deputising, as appropriate, in the absence of the Assistant Director of Adult Social Care. to ensure the service continues to function efficiently and effectively, working flexibly in the interests of the service.
You will have:
A social work qualification such as DipSW, CQSW, CSW, CSS and registration as a social worker with Social Work England.
To demonstrable the ability, experience and strategic application of relevant statutory responsibilities, within Adult Social Care.
Substantial experience of managing frontline staff and services (e.g. business planning, workforce planning, managing supply and demand, key performance indicators etc.) within a community setting and in a performance management environment.
Substantial experience of collaboration and engagement with key partners, communities, stakeholders and the workforce (e.g. stakeholder engagement, co-production/co-design, restorative practice, union engagement etc.)
Experience of working in a management role, with complex decision making responsibilities, and an ability to resolve problems at a senior level.
People management experience of a team and at individual level (e.g. objective setting, performance management, team building, training and development etc.)
Demonstrable good understanding and knowledge of council and national policies, strategies including personalisation and safeguarding and best practice in relation to strengths based support.
To show a good understanding and knowledge of partnership working, and of the partners most relevant to the delivery of social care in York.
To demonstrate excellent understanding of equality issues, with the ability and commitment to promote and develop positive initiatives in all aspects of work.
This post requires the post holder to undertake an Enhanced – adult workforce (with barred list check) Criminal Record check via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
