Our local authority client has a excellent opportunity for drivers who enjoy managing their own workload, delivering high standards of service, and working closely with the local community.

As an LGV/HGV Driver, you will operate a range of waste collection vehicles across York, observing health and safety requirements and being responsible for the safety of crew, self and members of the public. Working as part of a dedicated waste management team, you’ll be working with a team of waste loaders and will be required to assist with loading duties when required.

The pay rate for this role is £14.72 per hour. This is a temporary role for a minimum of 3 months, potentially longer.

Key responsibilities include:

• Driving and operating LGV/HGV waste collection vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Carrying out waste collection and disposal services across the York area.
• Following all health and safety procedures and client guidelines.
• Supporting waste loaders with collection duties when needed.
• Ensuring the safety of colleagues, pedestrians, and other road users.
• Delivering reliable, professional service to the local community.

You will need:

• Driver CPC Qualification.
• Full Category C Driving Licence.
• Class 2 Driving Licence.
• A Digital Tachograph Card.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Experience of working under prolonged periods of sustained physical effort.

Previous experience with waste or recycling would be an advantage although the client will offer in-house, on the job training and instruction on the various vehicles they operate in their fleet, so your experience as a driver will be utilised and your skills and knowledge base will increase.
