Description
YRK Football is a fast-growing grassroots football community built around accessibility, consistency, and progression.
Founded by Nathan Kilcoyne, YRK started as a solution to a simple problem—getting reliable, organised games together without the usual barriers of traditional football. It has since developed into one of the most active football communities in York, bringing together nearly 400 players across multiple weekly sessions.
At its core, YRK offers structured casual football. Regular 7-a-side and 11-a-side games run throughout the week, giving players of all abilities a chance to play in organised, competitive environments without the commitment of a formal league. The focus is on quality pitches, consistent scheduling, and a strong community feel.
Beyond casual football, YRK is building a full player pathway. Plans include expanding into Saturday league football, developing an Under-23 setup, and creating opportunities for players to progress into higher levels of the game. There are also ambitions to grow a women’s side and strengthen links within the wider local football scene.
What separates YRK is its community-first approach. It’s not just about playing—it’s about creating a network. Initiatives like the YRK Member Card aim to connect players with local businesses, while regular games and events keep people engaged both on and off the pitch.
In simple terms, YRK Football is about making football easier to access, more organised to play, and more connected for everyone involved.
